Thank you, Ian Fraser, for your informative and useful posting about your experiences in Tasmania. I too had trouble tracking down the Strong-billed Honeyeater late last year. On a visit in October, having found all the other endemics I searched hard for the Strong-billed and had to make do with a "maybe" sighting of a pair at Great Taylor Bay on Bruny Island. On a second visit in December, I did find some on the Tinderbox Pensinsula south of Hobart (which confirmed the previous sighting) but the strong-billed seemed much less visible than the literature suggested and much harder to find than the other endemic Honeyeaters.
