Hi Russ,
Birdline got a report of a Little Bittern at Belmont Common, next to the
golf club on the 22/1 from Margaret Cameron, I haven't heard anything since,

Stuart

Hi everyone
Someone at the Belmont Common hide (Geelong, Vic) last Saturday said that
a LITTLE BITTERN had been seen near there a couple of weeks before. Does
anyone know any more about this? It was in the little swamp next to the
golf club car park. Maybe I was asleep and missed this one on Birdng-Aus???
Still no Lewins Rails, but there is some water in Jerringot once again.
Re Tania Ireton's note on Little Grassbird: Once the mud dried out at
Belmont, LGB's could be seen foraging deep inside the cracks, often
disappearing from view. I also saw Superb Fair-Wrens doing somethign
similar, but I don't think they went in as far. A couple of Black-fronted
Dotterel were fairly tightly wedged into these cracks as well on
Friday or Saturday (yes, I've been there almost daily looking for those
pesky rails....)
