Dear Birdos,
Just a short report on our latest Glossy
Black-cockatoo survey held on Sunday last in Goonoo SF in CW NSW near Dubbo.
We counted 293 which is a good number for this time of year and
considering one of my observers got LOST and did not count his site.! Nearly
every site recorded juveniles ,just a couple at each site, so the glossies
are breeding later than the BOOKS say.
Also lots of Pied currwongs seen, must have been over this side of the range
to get away from the rain! But a Mallee Fowl was spotted in the dark on the
road as one carload of observers travelled towards the main road much to the
excitment of three of the four in the car who had not seen them before.
Great way to spend a balmy evening.
Janis Hosking Dubbo CW NSW
