Subject: Painted Snipe - recent breeding in Vic.??
A question for those who checked out the Painted Snipe at Lake Yambuk and Crags
Rd. (Sheepwash Swamp), Port Fairy (Vic.).
I have checked the B-A archives and, apart from Sean Dooley's detailed report on
his observations of the species giving a broken-wing act in December last year,
there appears to be no further details of anyone actually locating a nest at
this site.
As Sean said at the time, there have been only a handful of breeding records of
the species in south-east Australia in the last decade so any nesting is
a'major' event.
Would anyone wuith further information please contact me directly. Thanks in
anticipation.
