I'm planning a short trip up to Wyperfield and Hattah to check out many of the mallee species for the first time. Having never been there I've no doubt I'll see many new birds but would appreciate any tips on good spots and also any good sites for rarer species (Mallee Emu-wren, Striated Grasswren, Redthroat, Chestnut Quail-thrush, Malleefowl and Regent Parrot).

I'll only have a couple of days, will be in a two-wheel drive and will probably not make it as far as Mildura or Murray-Sunset.
