During the Field Guides Inc. tour of Australia last year, one of the group found a banded Lesser Sand (Mongolian) Plover at the northern end of Cairns Esplanade on November 9. It had the number 997 on the left leg, and the right leg had a green band above the knee joint. Any information about the provenance of this individual would be appreciated so I can let him know. Thanks.
