Hullo George,
Having done the Bathurst thing, I can only agree in
spades with your suggestion that Australian bird journals, and oversea
journals as well, be made available on CD.
Speedy access to most of the printed word on Australian
birds could only improve the status of and encourage more interest in
Ornithology in Australia.
More students would take it as a subject, other
Universities possibly offering it as an option, and general knowledge about
birds in general disseminating to the Public at Large, not least through
teachers who had done the subject.
At present, researching bird topics is an unbelievably
time-consuming pastime which is incompatible with the real expression of
interest in birds, namely BIRD-WATCHING.
Cheers
Michael
