Thanks to all who have made suggestions about the identity of the mysterious Sandpiper I reported at Marg Towt's Swamp, beside the Wallan Road, Whittlesea, on 31 Dec 2000. Richard Loyn has very kindly informed me that he saw the Swamp and the Sandpiper yesterday. He confirms that it is a WOOD SANDPIPER. It's very nice to have that cleared up! Thanks, Richard.
