I quickly searched the WWW for information on Western Australia but I did
not find any up to date information.

My understanding in Western Australia is that you are only allowed to shoot
ducks on private land with the permission of the owner. In practice this
restricts shooting to common birds on farm dams, etc such as Pacific Black
Duck, Australian Wood Duck, Grey Teal and Australasian Shelduck. I can't
remember any news story on duck shooting in Western Australia for many
years, so hopefully the number of shooters have dwindled. I doubt if many
farmers would give permission to anyone that they do not know.

I don't approve of duck shooting, but if the government doesn't have the
courage to totally ban it, then the WA laws seem to be a better solution
than allowing two or three months of open season on anything that flies
....
