2 Pacific Bazas were seen around the Wardens house on Sunday. This is the second record for Barren Grounds.

Other interesting sightings include 2 Black-faced Monarchs, a Brown Cuckoo-dove, a Beautiful Firetail I caught while carrying out some banding.

On Saturday while monitoring the Little Tern colony at Lake Wollumboola, 30 Australian Shelducks flew over and landed on the lake. White-fronted Chats were feeding young in the dunes next to the colony. 3 White-winged Black Terns were also present. Little Tern nest No 55 went down and if we can minimize the impact of Foxes, this season should be very successful. We should have some chicks this week and the Pied Oystercatchers should have chicks next weekend.

At Barren Grounds on the 25th-26th November a course ' Slithers and Croaks' was held with leader Ken Grifiths. On Saturday night we found a Giant Burrowing Frog, the second recorded live specimen for the reserve. I was lucky to be present when the first live specimen was found about two years ago. I also saw my first Tiger Snake and 2 Copperheads were found not far from the Lodge.
