Hi Jon,
          For an old pro I guess individual eyepiece focussing is fine, but
beginners might be put off by them.
          Leica, Zeiss, Swarovski, Steiner, Bushnell and probably Japanese
waterproof models are all sealed with inert gas, I wash mine routinely under
a tap or in a bucket of water if salty or muddy.
         Unlike most cameras and videos, tropical humidity is not a problem
with these bins, except that when going outside from an airconditioned room
moisture will condense on the OUTSIDE of the lenses until they warm up.
          Most have a 30 year guarantee, provided they aren't damaged.
