Hello all,

I was wondering whether somebody out there might be able to put me onto a
good reference on the derivation of scientific names. In particular I'm
interested in where the scientific name of the White-bellied Crimson Finch,
evangelinae, might have come from.

In the past I've used books like Cayley to find these names but
unfortunately it isn't of use for the White-bellied Crimson Finch as when
Cayley was published the Cape York White-bellieds were regarded as distinct
from the Papua New Guinea white-bellies and were named albiventer, meaning
white-bellied.

In hope,

Mick Todd
