A note on two fronts.
Thought I should add to the records of Swift Parrot sightings for those
collating the sightings. I visited the Geoff Miller factory, corner of Talinga
and George St., between the hours of 3:30pm and 5pm last Saturday, Nov. 04, and
located 4 Swift Parrots calling from atop the only large eucalypt tree across
the road by the cut through to Spring St. They would have been near impossible
to locate had they not been calling. After 20min. they flew across to the
flowering gum trees in front of the factory, joining approx. 20 Rainbow
Lorikeets and dozens of wattlebirds (both species). The Swift Parrots fed atop
the small group of trees for the entire time and were still feeding when I
left. Also common bronzewing sitting on path, as an aside.
My second note is a request for information on the best tracks in Jells Park to
take a small group of students on a birdwatching excursion. We intend on
spending a morning there on Fri. Nov. 24th. I would be most appreciative of
any info. regarding tracks and any birds to be particularly aware of.
Thank you all,
Regards,
Paul
