g'day all,
Birding-Ausers may be interested in the script of an interview
(22/10/00) on ABC Radio National's Ockham's Razor between ABC's Robyn
Williams and Scott Field a lecturer at the Waite Institute, University of
Adelaide.
Open up
snips...
When Stephen Garnett and Gabriel Crowley, the authors of
the Bird Action Plan, chose the spotted quail thrush to be the standard-bearer
for Australian bird extinctions, ...."
"...anywhere from a decade to a century or more, between a
block of scrub being bulldozed, and the final extinction of a species that
relied on that patch as its population stronghold...."
A very worthwhile read.
I had found it by accident after I opened up the ABC Web
Page
then clicked "Site Map and Search"
and when the "Search for" box appeared inserted the
word "Bird" and clicked "Search"
The result was an amazing 1530 matches and well annotated so
it was easy to determine what would be of interest. Of course some included
people with the name of Bird but never the less a good find.
I commend the ABC archives to all.
Regards, Bob Forsyth, Mount Isa, NW Qld.
