John Lake Burley Griffin Pelicans are kleptoparasitic at barbeques at a number of sites around the shoreline, on a regular basis. Many show a strong dietary preference for steaks and lamb fillets over beefburgers and sausages. Perhaps it was one of these individuals looking for an opportunity to forage elegantly at the Red Hill Restaurant. By the way, what was the fish of the day? [this was not an advertisment since I have no connection with any establishment which may or may not be attractive to Pelicans in South Canberra] Dr.P.J.
