>From childhood experience in a farming community, I mentally answered without hesitation, "A green-pasture-fed dairy cow that's just been moved into a milking stall goes "plop plop              plop            plop plop plop"  -  onto the nice clean concrete floor of the dairy.  Or it could be my Uncle, clapping a perfect imitation of the sound, to trick my Aunt into hurriedly reaching for the shovel!"  :-)

But it appears I was wrong and the answer Amytornis wanted is "the sound of fledgling Cormorants, Ibis, Egrets and other similar species falling from their nests and hitting the water to drown as the bander moves through the colony to fulfill the quota (numbers and species)".

So now, from the depths of my ignorance, I HAVE to ask, "Do they really drown, or is this an escape mechanism and they later clamber back to their nests?
