Hi Birding-aussers, it is with some regret that I have to
inform you that I have ceased operations with Sea World at Southport, on the
Gold Coast. They had served us well over the last six years but in recent times
the deckies had been whimping on us. Thus we had not been getting out to where
we intended, even when conditions were not too bad, when conditions are too
severe one doesn't venture out anyway.
The other mob we used were becoming a chore also, too much
time wasted checking out new fishing spots and having to come back early to get
the boat ready for night-charter. So, I'm taking a rest until at least the New
Year, I've been running these things for ten years now. It'll give me a chance
to get on more of the other pelagics.
I would really like to thank Birding-Aus for providing us a
forum for new contacts and subsequent patrons. This is not a pemanent
disbanding, only temporary. I'll be looking at establishing a pelagic venue
somewhere else, possibly in Northern NSW but more likely from the Sunshine
Coast. I'm very keen to get out onto the Barwon Banks adjacent to Noosa. If any
Sunshine Coast subscribers have any ideas I'd be very keen to hear them. Cheers
& good birding - Paul Walbridge.
