urbanization of crested pigeons?

Yesterday, I saw for the first time a pair of Crested Pigeon foraging in
an entirely artificial context.  The were feeding on the covered brick
pathway of the University of NSW Quadrangle building.  At one stage the
pair foraged about 10m down a large completely enclosed corridor.

I couldn't work out what they were eating - its next to a cafeteria and
I expect there would be far more human food crumbs than windblown seeds.

Crested pigeons were absent from Sydney until ~1950 - they still seem to
be increasing in numbers where I live, Glebe in inner Sydney.

Perhaps they'll displace some of Sydney's many Domestic Pigeons and
Spotted Turtle-doves.
