 Hi Netters,
An interesting interview on ABC News Radio two days ago in the
early hours of the morning with some Texas USA cattle ranchers.
Due to the downward trend in beef prices and a drought, the
ranchers had to sort out ways to bring in extra income or sell their ranch.
Tourism was started and they said the best income was from the
top two:-
            (1) People paying, yes, paying to work on the ranch with ranch
staff mending fences, buildings, rounding up cattle etc.
            (2) Equal highest was birdwatchers paying to stay and bird the
ranch. They started as one or two and now have birdwatching groups from USA
and overseas. The best part was one rancher saying "they were a minimum of
fuss when there."
Tourism was now 20% of their income.
Is this telling us something about the people who chase birders
off the property?

All the Best
