I was on the turf in the Olympic Stadium last week , found numerous Hawk
moths , some had been crushed and were exuding green eggs. Looked for but
couldn't find any Bogongs, which are much larger.
The wildlife corridor immediately north-west of the Olympics site,
although recently planted, looks interesting. Its mangrove lined creek flows
into Homebush Bay, is flanked by ponds and a few freshwater wetlands, is
adjacent to the Millenium Parklands, (ex Naval land) which has a bit of
bush, a creek , lots of grass (which unfortunately is kept well mown) and
wetlands on Parramatta River.
Didn't have a chance to investigate the avian inhabitants, but, along
with the adjoining Homebush Bay wetlands and Bicentennial Park on the other
side of Olympic Park, plus Mason Park joining to the south, this area ought
to become a premier birding site.
Does anyone have a current birdlist for the area?
