Urgent request for info. having just read agenda papers for a
Council meeting on Monday.
How old does a mistletoe plant have to be before it produces
berries?
I'm particularly interested in Creeping Mistletoe (Muellerina
eucalyptoides) because the proposal to Bayside Council is that
this is removed from an avenue of pin-oaks every two years. We
have a vague recollection that plants do not produce fruit
until they are 3 years old so this cycle would remove mistletoe
berries from the place where we see most mistletoebirds.
References and any other relevant information would be very
welcome. I've looked at the 1998 thread with this subject, the
1997 one on "interesting mistletoe question" and a couple of
Victorian Landcare and Land for Wildlife notes without finding
the answer.
Why do Council papers have to come out so late you have no time
to go to libraries ?
