I cannot recall who recorded Catbirds at Goolengook in eastern Victoria, and how the identification was made, but I wonder if there is a possibility that female Satin Bowerbirds were mistaken for Green Catbirds. It would be an easy mistake to make, and Satin Bowerbirds are certainly present in that part of Victoria. Moreover, one of the SBB calls is rather cat-like. However, if you are familiar with catbird calls, it is unlikely that you would mistake the two species, but a further complication is that SBBs are good mimics! I don't know whether they mimic Catbirds. Food for thought.
