Hi all,

as Michael Hunter said, having the notes in with the pictures makes it more exciting for the non-birder.  I've had two non-birding friends in the past week comment on how interesting it made the birds.  Before, they just flicked through the Pizzey or the S&D, looking at the pictures but not stopping.

Cheers, Michael.

    Good Morning ,
I freqently leave one or other field guide in the tea rooms at various places of work where non-birders often pick them up and try to ID birds they have seen. Morcombe's presentation with notes adjacent to the pictures has excited more interest in a couple of weeks than either Slater or Knight. By highlighting the relevant identification features without having to read them in the text it makes using the book much easier. Works of art the pictures are not,  but if they could correct the colour problems I suspect that this book, or at least this style of presentation might become the most popular with the average casual birder.

                                                    Cheers
                                                          Michael
