Gooday all,
Gannets is the term I believe commonly used for that family of birds in the temperate areas of the world while Boobies is used for those in the tropics. I recall discussing the pro and cons of a clothes optional beach a number of years ago on the Bowen Shire Council.
Coral Beach with the Inamincka Rocks just off shore
Of course the location was secluded but actually but actually was one of the best locations in the Shire to observe "brown boobies" a fact that I had to advise my fellow Councillors.
