Eaglehawk Neck, Tas Pelagic Trip Report 27 August 2000
Conditions,
Departed at 7.55 am and returned at approx. 3.35 pm.
Most observations south and east of Hippolyte Rock
Sea Conditions: Slight sea with 2-3m swell from south-east and 1m swell
from south-west (quite spectacular on the cliffs, and enough to have driven
a fishing boat off its moorings and onto the opposite beach the day before)
Weather: Fine but cool
Wind: 20-30 knot wind in Pirates Bay, easing once outside to 10-15 knots
in morning and 5-10 knots in pm.
Water temperature: Mostly 12.3-12.7 degrees C (both inshore and offshore),
but at our last stop it was 13.5.
