Alan,

Australian Brown Flycatcher is none other than the famous Jacky Winter, now
Microeca fascinans (for the scientific name, fascinans seems to have
priority over leucophaea).

Black Greybird is now New Guinea (or Black) Cuckoo-shrike, and the correct
scientific name is Coracina melas.

Onderwerp: [BIRDING-AUS] Australian Brown Flycatcher?

Folks:
I have run into a taxonomic problem in a species list that lists an
Australian Brown Flycatcher, Microeca leucophaea as being in Queensland,
NT, W. Australia. This name comes out of
Howard and Moore--Checklist of the Birds of the world. 2nd ed.

Also what looks like a PNG bird: Black Greybird Coracina melaena. Any
other names for this also?
Thanks.

Alan
