G'day all

Would someone at Birds Australia please advise me of the likely publication date
of the next Hanzab volume?

Has anyone purchased the new Moorecombe field guide? How about a few critical
reviews. I have a birthday coming up and I could start dropping hints now if
the book is well regarded.

I managed to pick up two great field giudes second-hand in our local book shop
on the weekend. One is a slim little hard cover of British Island birds by
Peter Hayman. It has brief but concise textual information, no scientific
names, arranges the species in groups based on appearance and has no maps but
the illustrations are marvellous. The book was published in the early 1980's.
Does anyone know it? I reckon similar books for regions of Australia would be
brilliant.

The other book is a similar vintage guide to birds of North America (including
Greenland!!) by ??, ?? and ??. Illustrations by Singer are very good. This
book is similar in design to our Slater guide with a reasonable amount of text
and smallish but usable maps.

Both books are in as new condition and set me back a total of $18 (inc GST).
I've got very itch feet now.

Cheers

Steve
