Greetings, I've just been speaking to Greg Clancy from Grafton and he has found a male NORTHERN SHOVELER on the outskirts of Grafton. He located this bird on Saturday the 12th and it has been identified by several other local birdo's. It is to be found at: Drive along the Lawrence rd and turn onto the Casino Rd for 5km, then into Tullymorgan Rd for a further 5km. There is a swamp on the right and the bird was sighted just before the bridge. If you get to Broadwater Creek then you have gone to far. Go back 1km. The swamp is on private property so the bird can only be seen from the road. Greg is going out there tomorrow to see if he can locate an owner and enquire Re access. There are several Australian Shovelers on the swamp but the Northern Shoveler was not associating with them.
Regards Richard Baxter Newcastle
