FriendsJust finished doing a flauna survey on privite land near Grose Vale, during which a PAIR of Fan-tailed Cuckoos were observed. Must being staying overwinter! Are there many records of Fan-tailed Cuckoos during the winter period around Sydney?Cheers Mark Sanders Blue Mountains Wilderness Trust www.mountains.net.au/wilderness Hi Mark, yes they are quite common in the (greater) Sydney region during the cooler months. Am not sure how their numbers fluctuate but I seem to hear their call more often during the warmer months. Whether this reflects more calling or an increased number of birds I don't know.
