African checklists

I am after the most recent and comprehensive checklists (scientific and
common names) of African birds and mammals. Currently I have Sibley and
Monroe's 1993 world bird checklist and Wilson and Reeder's 1993 world mammal
checklist. I have found an unofficial (but apparently pretty accurate)
update of S&M's list that takes into account all taxonomic changes up until
this year, but was wondering if there was an offical update somewhere.

But I understand that S&M's list works best at the family level and never
really set out to tease apart the intricacies of species. So, is there
anything better? I am thinking particularly of something like CSIRO's recent
List of Vertebrate Species, which took into account all the latest and most
specific taxonomic research, and standardised the common names as well (and,
importantly, taking into account common name useage within the species
range).

If there is anything similar for African mammals and birds, I would love to
know.

Sean Pywell.
