I have been monitoring an area, at Noosa,Q.( Interpretive Birding) for the last 12 months. Red-winged Parrots come to feed on the dreaded Siratro legume that grows there, when pods are 'ripe to their liking'. The group of 2 to 6 birds is usually female with possibly some juvenile birds. A male has been observed but only on rare occasions. Red-winged Parrots have nested successfully about 2k from 'my' site in nest boxes. Has anyone any ideas why the males are not visiting with the others?
