Simon I can't agree with your comments enough. There exists in Australia a most backward thinking with regard to keeping information secretive. It is frustrating and stupid. Birding in this country needs to open up to the public and welcome people. You protect species by publicity. I have been lucky enough to see how the UK birding scene works and its fantastic. Big numbers, very open and transparent and well publicised. Birding is almost mainstream as opposed to being a small time niche activity. Lets start sharing our information.
