Hi Netters,
A seawatch at Wattamolla in the Royal National Park, 20km south
of Sydney, with Steve-Anyon Smith on Saturday 1st July. Windy weather but
missed the rain.
Black-browed Albatross 40+ Heading south
Shy Albatross 2 " "
Yellow-Nosed Albatross 2 " "
Fairy Prions 16+ " "
Gannets 20+ " "
Crested Terns 40+ " "
Fluttering Shearwaters 20+ Heading north
Bullers Shearwater 1 " "
Giant Petrel? 6 " "
Mammals Seal 3 Heading north.
One seal caught a big fish and would put it's head up above the
water and when the B/B Albatross, Fairy Prions and Crested Terns would come
near the Seal would dive and surface 7 metres away waving the fish by the
tail to tempt the birds and then dive again, doing this several times. The
seal seemed to enjoy teasing the birds before swallowing the fish.
Thankyou Steve for an enjoyable day.
All the Best
