Hi all,

Thought you might be interested in a brief bird list my incipient-birder
partner emailed from Ny Alesund in the north of Spitzbergen (about 1000km
from the north pole) where she is doing fieldwork at the moment (on seaweed,
not birds).

Fulmar (Fulmarus glacialis)

Barnacle goose (Branta leucopsis)

common eider ( Somateria mollissima)

long tailed duck (Clangula hyemalis)

i think sanderling (Calidris alba)

Grey phalarope (Phalaropus fulicarius)

kittiwake (Rissa tridactyla)

arctic tern (Sterna paradisaea)

a huge white gull i dont know

common guillemot (Uria aalge)

little auk ((alle alle) stupid name

puffin (Fratercula arctica)

snow bunting (Plectrophenax nivalis)

I'm green with envy.

Sean.
