G'day all

While it is fascinating to see some early Atlas results it occurs to me that a
consequence of this is likely to be targeting of the species listed as in
decline. When I saw Brown Falcon and Nankeen Kestrel in the first group I
thought "there are plenty of these around Hamilton at the moment". They haven't
been atlassed by me because they tend to be seen while I'm riding to work and
not in an atlas frame of mind.

It is obvious to me that some of the birds I used to see fairly often are now
missing. Hopefully the atlas will give us a true picture - Australia wide.
Maybe, however, we should wait until the end of the project until we see results
such as Rory posted today.

I may be completely out of line here - what do others think?

Cheers

Steve
