The Birds-Australia North Queensland Group had a very successful 3 hr. trip
to Redden Island (which is at Machins Beach, north of Cairns Airport, North
Queensland). The Island is accessed by a road bridge over Redden Creek.
Highlights of the morning were White-eared Monarch (new species for this
area), whilst looking at a Little Kingfisher perched in Redden Creek a
Great-billed Heron flew behind it before a pair of Sacred Kingfishers and
then a Collared Kingfisher flew in and perch nearby giving everyone present
great views. A memorable five minutes. The full mornings list is below.
