Hi all
Though it is important to get conservation issues
some attention, could we request more people to send in trip reports. Surely,
all of us would be interested in knowing what birds are about at various times
of the year in various places around Australia. You don't need to report any
rare sightings but a report on some of the birds observed for the day, weekend
or other period will be most welcome (I hope this is shared by all subscribers).
All trip reports that have been sent to biridng-aus have been great to read. It
is interesting to hear and learn about some of the fantastic bird behaviours
that people observe aswell. Suppose some of you out there may be shy or too busy
to send in these reports, but if you can spare some time, its the contribution
that counts at the end.
Perhaps, we can start a new string. What are some
of your most favourite/unusual bird sightings over the years that have
visited your garden/suburb?.
For me to start off this, my favourite birds seen
in my suburb of Seven Hills have included Little lorikeets, 6 Glossy
Black-Cockatoos, Lewins Rail (though dead), a few Swift Parrots, Musk Lorikeets,
Channel-billed Cuckoos, Shining Bronze-cuckoo, Koel, Tawny Frogmouth, Satin
Flycatcher, Spine-tailed Swifts, Hobby, Peregrine Falcon, Little Eagle,
White-bellied Sea-eagle, Red-rumped Parrots, Rufous Fantails, Rose Robins, and
an unusual sighting of 3 Pacific Herons attempting to roost in the park opposite
our place.
cheers!
Edwin
