Hi all On this cold, wet wintery day there are literally dozens of Common Mynas, Spotted Turtle-doves, and Blackbirds feeding on the road and nature-strips in our suburban street in Burwood (suburb east of Melbourne). There are numerous squashed acorns on the road, which presumably make an easy meal. In contrast, in our garden there is an Eastern Spinebill at the Correa flowers and Brown Thornbills foraging in a Grevillea. The Spinebills only visit occasionally, but the Thornbills are here most of the time now. There is one Thornbill that comes up to a branch very close to my window and sings to its reflection, oblivious of me just a metre away. Happy birding, Merrilyn Birding-Aus is on the Web at www.shc.melb.catholic.edu.au/home/birding/index.html To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send the message "unsubscribe birding-aus" (no quotes, no Subject line) to |
