Slainte from Nova Scotia. I am forwarding the following query from

please respond directly to her -- her e-mail is <>.

"Can anyone tell me if biting flies/mosquitoes/gnats etc. are a big
problem during late July and August in the Brisbane and Cairns area of
Australia? We are thinking about going to Lamington and then some
birding sites around Cairns, and we haven't seen much mention of them,
only about leeches. Chiggers love me, despite my best efforts to repel
them when we've visited Belize and Costa Rica; are we likely to find a
similar situation in Australia?

Thanks for any information or hints.
