Chris,
A lot of queries can be answered by checking out the
Birding-aus "Archives" (which is a marvellous resource) at
http://www.shc.melb.catholic.edu.au/home/birding/index.html

Enter SIPO in the "Search the Archives" box and hit "submit"
and a  whole lot of refs  that include the word "SIPO"
appear !

Glance down  these 64 headings and you will see
SOUTH ISLAND PIED OYSTERCATCHER
included in half a dozen.
