For the benefit of list members I thought it useful to post the following list
of websites which is part of an email I have just sent to a colleague. There is
a variety of information sources available electronically.

NRE (2000) Threatened Vertebrate Fauna in Victoria (gives status of fauna
   assessed by various experts)
         - this is the new electronic version of the old 1995 document.

Go to the Plants and animals link then to Threatened Species for this document.

   Birdlife International
                      http://www.wing-wbsj.or.jp/birdlife/

Environment Australia - for legislation, strategies, action plans, ANZECC and
    IUCN lists for Australia, etc

         http://www.biodiversity.environment.gov.au/threaten/index.htm

IUCN - for their 'Red lists of Threatened Plants and Animals'

                              http://www.iucn.org/

Convention on Migratory Species (CMS) - whales, seabirds, etc
