Hi everybody -
I am passing on a request from Birds Australia's Broome Bird Observatory
(in north-western Australia).
BBO is looking for assistant wardens to help them out over the busy, dry,
winter season - from now until September at least. Assistant wardens help
with observatory maintenance duties such as cleaning and catering, looking
after visitor duties such as bird tours, and research work such as surveys
and banding. Monetary compensation is relatively low, but board and keep
are covered. Training is provided as necessary. The work might suit
people who want a working holiday away from the southern Australian winter
in a great climate with lots of interesting birds around (it is certainly a
good place to hone your wader (shorebird) ID skills and get hands-on
experience with wader research).
Anybody interested and available for at least part of the period should get
in touch with BBO immediately to express interest and receive more detailed
information. Contact details are:

The people to talk to at the Observatory are Bill Rutherford, the new
Facility Manager, or Adrian Boyle, the new Ornithological Manager.
Cheers,
Hugo
