Merrilyn,

I first noticed suburban Grey Currawongs five or six years ago when we lived
in Middleborough Rd Burwood (eastern suburb of Melbourne, about 15-18 km
east of the CBD), just north of the RSPCA headquarters. There was a pair
hanging around on and off, but not seasonally as I recall, for about 18
months. Now we're a couple of kilometres further south-east, at Syndal, and
they are frequently audible in the neighbourhood. They have certainly been
present throughout this most recent summer. I also saw a pair nesting next
to Reynolds Road, west of the northern end of Springvale Road, last
November. In the past six months or so I have once or twice heard them near
my parents' home in Glen Iris, about 8 km closer to the city, where I never
recall hearing or seeing them when I lived there as an embryo birdo.

Most welcome if they would start getting into the nesting Blackbird and
Mynah populations.

Regards,

    Jack Krohn.
