My family tends to go for a holiday to Merimbula every 2 years. In 1994 and 1996 I saw STK's at Merimbula. On the second occasion there were 2 adults and 1 young bird wheeling over a hill above the town and I suspected they might have bred. The hill is now covered by houses, which looks likely to be the fate of any parts of the east coast unprotected by parks. I haven't seen the birds on the last two visits in 1998 and 2000.
