I was out atlassing along the border fence in a section where it ran
along the great dividing range the other weekend. It was a rare fine
day with great views from a 1100 m lookout.

There were quite a few noisy pittas and lyrebirds about. I only got to
see one lyrebird, but not well enough to determine whether it was an
Alberts or Supurb lyrebird. Do the two species have seperate
"signature" calls that might be used to ID them audibly? [I expect they
don't].

I got to see a lewins HE picking raspberries and a green catbird down on
the ground [an uncommon sight for me] with a large white fruit in its
beak.

In first [for me] I saw white-browed, yellow-throated and large-billed
scrubwrens in the one area. [Interestingly, the LBSWs were comming down
quite low in the vegetation].

I also saw a large number of logrunners, including a complete family in
a logrunner compatible habitat [first time I've seen LR juveniles]. MY
question is, does the observation of parents together with offspring
count as "breeding" for ground based birds such as LRs for atlassing
purposes?

Regards, Laurie
