AAn interim name may be shown clearly as such with the use of brackets. Two examples will suffice...
Gibson's Albatross  Diomedea (exulans) gibsoni
Salvin's Albatross    Thalassarche (cauta) salvini

A similar formulation (with square brackets) is used to denotes the members of a superspecies, so unless that is the intent the above could be confusing. A clearer and more widely-used formulation would be, eg, Diomedea gibsoni (=exulans).
