Hi Birders,
Recent comments by B. Everingham about Apostlebirtds in Sydney reminds one that in the past 30 years there have been single small flocks at places like Heathcoate, Seven Hills, Mt Druit, Deepwater Park and Gunamatta Park. These small flocks eventually die out but a new group appears somewhere else in due course. All these birds are considered to be escapees or delibertae introductions, and in the book "Birds of Sydney" 1991 E.S.Hoskin, the author follows up a number of these records to show that the birds were accidental escapees or deliberate introductions. They certainly do not represent a relic population of part of the original distribution, because Apostlebirds are not native to the County of Cumberland.
