Hello Tom, Jill and All, Wonderful critters those Channel-bills. I saw 2 but, from the calls, there could have been 3 or 4 on the Chelmer reach of the Brisbane River. I speculate somewhat on the route and destination of these migrants. Also, I have heard that they gather up their offspring and fly back together. I don't know if that is known for sure. Reports on Birding-aus seem to indicate that CBC's arrive in Sydney and points south earlier than they arrive in the Brisbane area. I wonder if this is really the case and , if so, could they be coming from different places at different times, eg the "Sydney" birds from Indonesia and the "Queensland" birds from New Guinea, or some such. Is there anyone interested/knowledgeable in how these birds get about? Regards, Ros. P.S. Tom, I wouldn't mind a Crimson Chat.
