I've just been to see Esther in intensive care. She has a great bandage around her head with a drainage bottle hanging from it and two great black eyes, but she took my hand, squeezed it tight, said, "Hello Dada (younger sister)". I think she's going to be fine. If any doctors out there have any ideas on safer ways of banging one's head in grief I'll pass them on. I think alternatives are sorely needed.
