No curlews at Pelican Point at midday nor at 4pm. However, conditions were still not right as the sandbank was not exposed. Checked the surrounding area reasonably thoroughly-but no luck,only Bar-tailed Godwits and Greenshanks. I will check twice daily for the next two weeks but could all birders look really closely at all Eastern Curlews in the Central Coast & Hunter Area particularly at Koorangang Island, we might get lucky.
